A Superior Court judge has ruled with the state and against Maricopa County over possible development encroachment at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale.

The state and county had filed lawsuits against each other over state laws aimed at restricting development near Luke and the county’s approval of housing and other developments in the area.

The Maricopa County Superior Court judge sided with the state Tuesday instructing county officials to abide by the laws limiting development around the west side Air Force base.

U.S. Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., was among those who welcomed the court ruling.
