As is commonly known by now, Rick Renzi is not going to run in 2008. CD1 will be an open seat.
I’m taking a break from the site… as fun as Congress watching is, I can’t do it every day anymore. Trust that I am not getting disinterested or lazy, or have become complacent with a Democrat-controlled Congress. Far from it. It’s more like I’ve gotten three promotions in the last year and a half and quite a bit of responsibility is now on my shoulders. I’m burning out. Calgon, take me away.

Everyone, please contact Representative Renzi and ask him to immediately resign his office. We, here in CD-1 don’t deserve a lame-duck Congressman who has already given up his House Committee assignments. We need a new Representative ASAP.
Dear Stacy,
This was meant to be my first comment this evening, but I still forget to give the Gov’s name.
First Comment went something like this.
Congratulations on your career successes. And, although I understand completely, this will be a huge void for me as I try to get AZ political news. You have always been my #1 resource. I shall miss you and your website content terribly. Thank you.
Thank goodness he’s taken the first step. Now let’s see him do what we all really want him to do so we can get a real representative who really knows us and our issues. I think Ann Kirkpatrick is going to make a great representative for rural Arizona.
Congrats on the success Stacy!
We’re going to miss you lots, but priorities are priorities.
Just don’t be a total stranger. AzCW was one of the first online resources that I found when I started looking for AZ political info online, and it remains an one of the best resources out there.
Oh, and not to get too sentimental, AzCW inspired more than one person in AZ to start blogging, including me.
And after nearly 500 posts, I’m not sure if I should be thanking you, or cursing you.
))
Later!
Stacy,
I am sorry to hear you are taking a break, as I love this blog. On the other hand, I am thrilled things are going well for you in your professional career, and I hope they only get better.
Hopefully, a few months away (or mostly away) will re-energize your batteries for next year. If not, thanks for everything, you’ve been great.
Stacy — you’ve provided an important service for Arizona political activists and will be missed. Thanks.
Best of luck with your work responsibilities, and thank you so much for all that you have done for us here.
And to Renzi- go away and stay away. Loser.
Stacy:
Maybe you just do need a break to charge your batteries. I hope so, and hope to find you back.
I greatly, greatly enjoy your humor, the information, and the debates (from the intelligent to the downright idiotic!!). You are most talented. Good luck to you!!!
And Renzi—Step down already. Sheesh.
Thanks, all. I’m looking at ways to keep the site going, with or without me. Stay tuned.
I vote for Tim O. to step up to the plate.
Oh no you don’t! I’m thoroughly flattered Colleen, but I just got the building permit to expand my shop, I’m redesigning my website and I’ll be promoting like crazy. I’ll be deep in it for the next 6 months.
Stacy has provided an invaluable resource here and has done an excellent job. I know how much time it takes to put together and maintain a quality blog. I tip my hat to you Stacy.
More sites like this are needed, in fact every state should have one.
Cheers!
Stacy,
Best wishes and curry will never be the same. I wish you success and hope that you can arrange some way for this site to continue. Maybe you could toss us a post once a week?
Once a month?
I’m melting. The blogosphere without Stacy? I’m existentially shaken.
Tell me it’s a bad dream. Why does everything I love go away?
Stacy,
I’m embarrassed to add my belated praise for your work, condolences on your temporary departure from the blogosphere, and congratulations on your promotions. Part of the reason for my inattention to ACW is the increased attention my job needs at this moment, so I guess I understand your need to prioritize and recharge quite well.
Thanks for providing our AZ citizen watchdog local politics blogspot for so long. It really should be emulated in all 50 States.
Mike
P.S. Thanks again for participating on our radio show demo for KPHX as well. We’re still working at an official launch, but the only thing standing in our way is a mere pittance of money. Maybe you can whisper in George Soros’ ear for us.
I am simply amazed at the disinterest in H. Shanker as a CD1 congressional candidate. I recently had the pleasure of observing a debate in Pinetop between Mr. Shanker and Ms. Titla.
Ms. Titla had opening statements down and tight, but she didn’t seem to be able to talk on her feet.
My concerns are the environment, healthcare and school for our children and ending this insane “conflict” in Iraq. Mr. Shanker addressed the issues that concern me and I believe he will take his beliefs and concerns with him to Congress. Double-talking politicians have just about burned me to a crisp.
Please take the time to visit and compare the candidates websites. Ms. Titla just wants a new job. Mr. Shanker wants to make a difference in Congress. I am WAY ready for a change!
William H,
Although, I have never met, nor heard Ms Titla speak, I think the reason CD-1 democratic grass-root activists are holding back is we believe an “environmental lawyer” cannot win in our district any more than a “civil rights” attorney could in 2006. It’s not that we don’t want them to win. It’s that we know our district. We are not definitely not disinterested. We are determined to elect a Democrat.
