Today in the House: Industrial waste, permanent bases in Iraq

H CON RES 187, Expressing the sense of Congress regarding the dumping of industrial waste into the Great Lakes, passed the House 387 – 26 – 2.

Voted Yea: Renzi, Pastor, Mitchell, Grijalva, Giffords
Voted Nay: Franks, Shadegg, Flake


H R 2929, To limit the use of funds to establish any military installation or base for the purpose of providing for the permanent stationing of United States Armed Forces in Iraq or to exercise United States economic control of the oil resources of Iraq, passed the House 399 – 24.

Voted Yea: Renzi, Pastor, Mitchell, Grijalva, Giffords
Voted Nay: Franks, Shadegg, Flake

Grijalva comments: “The American people do not want to occupy or dominate other nations, and this overwhelming vote by the House of Representatives is a necessary expression of that popular will. We have seen the suffering and chaos caused by this Administration’s misguided ambitions, and it is appropriate and necessary for the Congress to direct our policy in a new direction.”

    If there was no bill on Iraq funding, then the funds would end.
