From CQPolitics.com:
Democrat Jack Jackson Jr.’s decision to drop his House bid in Arizona’s 1st District left his party without a clear front-runner for the Sept. 12 primary — and underscored two-term Republican Rep. Rick Renzi’s increasing domination of a district drawn specifically to host competitive races.
The development has prompted CQPolitics.com to change its Election Forecaster rating on the race to Safe Republican from Republican Favored. The Safe rating means Renzi appears certain to win re-election — barring the emergence of a strong Democratic challenger by the June 14 candidate filing deadline.
Renzi’s success is at least partly attributable to the congressman’s inroads to the Navajo population, which traditionally votes almost exclusively Democratic. American Indians make up 23 percent of the 1st District population — the group’s largest proportion in any of the nation’s 435 districts — and Renzi has assiduously courted the Navajo vote since he first entered Congress.

Stacy, do I get to tell all of these “experts” I told you so in November or I have to be the bigger man?

Keep campaigning. You’ve been pretty good at getting free press.
Hey Mike, noticed your cameo in Jim Mahfood’s comic this week… Congrats.
Excuse my ignorance, but who is Jim Mahfood? Is there a link to this comic?
Just found the comic, very funny! I assure you that I’m not bald!
Jack was abandoned by the DCCC after he did not raise the $200,000 they wanted. This after they approached him about running and getting him to resign his high paying position with the State of AZ. Phone calls to Rahm Emmaulli of the DCCC were not returned.
That’s interesting, Ron. Thanks.
The DCCC isn’t doing very well with their “chosen ones”. Maybe time to wake up? Story below.
Democrats Lose Another Congressional Candidate
(CNSNews.com) – In Arizona, the top Democratic challenger for Republican Congressman Rick Renzi’s seat dropped out of the race last week because he could not raise enough money to compete, press reports said. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) was pinning its hopes on Jack Jackson Junior. Several other Democrats are running for the seat of the two-term Republican Renzi, but Jackson was the front-runner. The National Republican Congressional Committee is keeping a “recruitment failure tally” for the DCCC, and it says as of March 10, Democrats have chalked up “30 recruitment failures in 20 districts.” Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.) chairs the DCCC, a group that recruits and helps to fund Democratic congressional candidates.
